Former President Donald TRUMP revealed plans to impose new tariffs within the next two to three weeks during a meeting with business executives in the United Arab Emirates. He argued that negotiating individually with approximately 150 countries seeking trade deals with the US would be impractical. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick will outline payment requirements for countries wishing to conduct business in the US.

The announcement follows a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs, set to expire on July 8, during which base tariffs of 10% remained in effect. The MOVE has intensified pressure on trading partners to finalize agreements.
